We appreciate that girl’s clothing and boy’s clothing aren’t always that different, but if your child is a girly girl who loves to wear long sequin tutus everywhere, she might want to consider an outfit change for laser tag.

Why Clothing Choices are Important?
To start, laser tag is a sport, and you will be running around, sweating, and hopefully winning in whatever you wear. The last thing you want is to be in the middle of a game and lose focus because your clothes are itchy or hard to move in.
Traditional little girl’s clothing doesn’t always consider how much they will have to move in it. It can also be brightly colored, or even have fun little bells attached to it giving its position away immediately!
Clothing needs to be comfortable and probably a little stretchy. Keep in mind that you will be squatting behind obstacles, hopping over things, and sprinting to avoid detection by the enemy.
Camouflage is also important. When you play laser tag, you want to be able to blend in with your surroundings. Imagine if you ran around a dark indoor laser tag venue covered in Christmas lights… you would probably be the first player to be eliminated.
Obviously, that’s an exaggerated example, but you get the point.
Shoes are essential to consider, especially if you’re playing outside or in the dark. The best laser tag players are the ones who can hop around the arena at ease and take down all of their opponents.
You also probably don’t want your toes exposed, since any accidental foot stepping in the dark would be a nasty surprise!
Ideal Clothing for Laser Tag
So what should girls wear specifically?
Pants
We are big fans of wearing pants while playing laser tag. Skirts are adorable, and great for some occasions, but we wouldn’t recommend them for any sport, let alone tagging.
Pants are ideal because you can run, squat, and even roll around at ease! Shorts, leggings, and even jeans with some stretch will work great.
Outdoor laser tag really demands that you wear comfortable stretchy or loose pants, and they should preferably be lengthy so you can get on your knees. No one wants a scratched-up knee because they were kneeling in a twiggy area waiting for the perfect shot.
Longer pants are also great for full-body camouflage. Hiding all your skin is ideal for blending into your surroundings.
Accessories
Some girls are accessory queens! Bracelets, dangly earrings, and cute purses are all wonderful, but not very appropriate for laser tag.
This is particularly important for younger girls who are really into having fun with their clothing, but are still concerned about winning.
To start, many accessories can be very distracting. Laser tag winners should be completely focused and committed to being the best player.
Jewelry that jingles and shakes a lot is not ideal for playing. We recommend studs or small hoops, and bracelets that don’t move around too much on the arms.
Accessories that could snag on anything in the arena should also be removed. Purses should also be left with parents or friends.
Boots or Sneakers
Comfortable, supportive shoes that don’t cause blisters are ideal for playing in. However, some laser tag establishments make you take your shoes off, so dark socks would be a great backup option.
If you can wear shoes while playing, thick non-slip soles will help you run around and tag all the right players. Sneakers are great, but boots would also work as long as they aren’t too tall.
If your daughter has light-up shoes, those would be really fun to wear in a dark indoor laser tag arena, but they might give her position away to other players. But she may still want to wear them for fun and deal with the potential consequences.
Things to Avoid Wearing
Long Skirts
The last thing anyone wants is for someone to trip while running around. Long skirts can be risky for laser tag.
Longer skirts are also difficult to run in, which is why pants are so crucial for winning rounds of the sport.
As you can imagine, long dresses are also a no-no. If you have a young girl who must wear a dress or skirt when playing, we recommend bringing a pair of leggings to the laser tag establishment for them to change into when they realize they aren’t going to be able to play as well.
Heels or Slides
Some people like to incorporate a few rounds of laser tag into a night out. That sounds awesome, but, if you want to wear heels to the restaurant you’re going to, you should probably bring a change of shoes so you can kick everyone’s butts during the game.
Slides would also stop you from playing well. Shoes should be securely attached to your feet. No one wants to lose a sandal in a dark laser tag arena. That would not be fun.
Considering Colors
Dark colors are essential for playing laser tag. We all love brightly colored outfits most of the time, but laser tag is about sleth, so black is ideal.
Navy, dark grey, and army green are also perfect colors.
If you’re playing outside, you should consider what the terrain looks like. Blending in with an autumnal forest would involve dark greens and beiges while playing in a snowy terrain would mean wearing white.
In conclusion, your environment dictates the colors you should wear, so plan ahead.
